    THE EXPLANATION

Bayern are playing Tottenham as part of their pre-season tour in South Korea on August 3 in the Coupang Player Series. However, Kane along with a few other superstars are not joining the rest of the squad for their Asian sojourn as they are currently on an extended break after a hectic and stretched-out season.

  • WHAT VINCENT KOMPANY SAID

Bayern Munich's new manager, Vincent Kompany, confirmed Kane's absence during a press conference last month.

"Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano, and Kingsley Coman won't be there, but hopefully for the first cup game," Kompany stated.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Kane joined Bayern Munich last summer in a blockbuster transfer worth €120 million (£100m/$131 million). Despite his significant contributions, which included netting 36 goals to become the Bundesliga's top scorer, Bayern Munich only managed a third-place finish, trailing 18 points behind champions Bayer Leverkusen.
